What a whirlwind - and a good one at that, this past week. The CD releases in my hometown and in Regina SK went so well thanks to everyone who attended and bought CDs. Both nights were such fun performances to do - thanks to everyone for the kind e-mails. We then flew the band down to Toronto for a weekend of performances. Friday we were on Breakfast Television on City TV. We did 2 songs - and the band kicked the ass out of them. Viewership was about half a million people - nifty! And then the finale for us was performing the opening set for Mel C (the sporty spicey gal that she is) - at Toronto Pride. It was such a cool show - not only playing to the huge audience there, but having it webcast around the globe via Toronto Pride, and also broadcast to the big screens around the festival site. Thanks to the band “The Handsome Strangers” for doing such a fantastic job at all the shows: Rob D, Kory Gibbs, Jill Straker, Robyn Newman, Sam Minevich. Thanks to everyone for listening. More to come!

Thanks to the arts council in Langenburg Saskatchewan we had an amazing first night performing songs from the new album. The band was really tight and made such a good noise. The show was done as a 6-piece with piano, bass, drums, guitar, cello, backing vocals and the audience was so warm and receptive. The 2 sets FLEW by, we got a standing ovation and then finished off the night with a rockin’ encore. Thanks so much to those in attendance. It was the best way to kick off the touring of this new CD. Thanks to the band for performing so well!

Brad the web-guy here! Just wanted to thank everyone for putting up with the intermittent glitches over the past two days as I rolled out the new web-design.

This is the fourth major overhaul for Jeffstraker.com since it launched, and I think it’s probably my favourite design to date.

With it you’ll notice there’s a whole bunch of new information now available about Jeff’s new album “Step Right Up”, including the three great tracks now playing on the main page!

The two areas of the old site that will take a little bit of time to bring over are all the photo albums, and Jeff’s past shows - but I’ll do my best to get everything over in the next couple of days.

In the meantime if you notice anything odd, or have strange browser quirks feel free to drop me a line (webmaster @ this domain).

Have a great Spring everyone!

The new CD is coming along slowly but surely (as it should)! I’m excited to be able to share the new recorded songs with everyone very soon. In addition to recording, editing, mixing and mastering the CD, we’ve been working really hard at other stuff too. Designer Heidi worked up some great new artwork for the album, webmaster Brad is working like a demon in the background creating a completely new face for us on the web that I’m sure you’ll like, photographer Pascal has done some wicked photo shoots, concert dates are being booked and all the rest of it. If you’d like a concert of the new songs to take place near you, drop us a note at jeff@jeffstraker.com. Also check out some of the dates that are always being updated here on the calendar on this site. The CD will be available on this site first - as a mail-order purchase via paypal - with digital sales on i-tunes, puetracks etc. following after that. National cataloguing will also soon be done to have it available with every music retailer in Canada. Check back for updates and watch for the launch of the new website!

Thanks to those who came out to a few recent Toronto shows. ‘3 Guys from the Prairies’ with Grant Tilly, David Hein and myself was once again a sell-out standing room only success at Bread and Circus in Kensington Market. With a BRILLIANT audience, prairie themed catering by “the girl” catering and booze-a-plenty at the bar, it was a terrific night. A few nights later I performed in Sara Kamin’s annual Doctors Without Borders/MSF fundraiser at the Rivoli on Queen West which saw her best turn out in 5 years. The back room was packed. It’s so great to see such support for indie music - don’t forget to tell others if you liked what you heard! On that note, check the show calendar on this site for more upcoming dates that are always being added. Progress on my album is steady as well - keep checking back for updates. Now….a little treat for you - this is a photo of Leo Dicaprio’s driveway in Hollywood - click on it for a larger image and a little blurb I wrote on about what happened there…

Although things have been ’seemingly’ fairly quiet the last little while, I assure you that the days here are busy, energized and moving at a lightning pace. I started work with Justin Gray in LA (Dec ‘07) for my upcoming recording (with more work to go) and things are sounding fantastic so far. It’s not done yet, but please check back for latest on its progress. More trips down to LA are being scheduled to have the recording all wrapped up this spring. New shows are always being booked and added to the calendar on this site as well - please check those out. This new album is going to be a DOOSER! I promise!
In the meantime - here I am standing in Ellen Degeneres’s driveway in Beverly Hills! seriously!
