‘Contemporary Folk Singer of the Year’ at Canadian Folk Music Awards

I was very honoured to hear my name read out as the winner of a Canadian Folk Music Award at the gala ceremony in Ottawa/Gatineau on April 3 2025. I was thrilled to just be nominated in the category of ‘Contemporary Folk Singer of the Year’ and certainly didn’t anticipate winning – what a complete surprise. In my speech I thanked my piano teachers as well as my mentor and friend – Suze Casey – of the Calgary Folk Club. Right after accepting my trophy I performed a few songs for the audience gathered in the beautiful Canadian Museum of History. The whole weekend was a blast, hearing top-notch performances and connecting with musicians from across the country. The trophy itself is a work of art – it’s solid glass with an embedded maple leaf.
